Coffee Chronicles 005
"Official" tasting notes and background information.
The Beans
The smell of the beans is very sweet, with a strong coffee smell (compared to the last few days), almost reminiscent of a dark roast.
Brewing Method AeroPress
I am following James Hoffman's "The Ultimate AeroPress Technique". 11 grams of coffee and 200 grams of water. Steep 2 minutes, then swirl and let settle for 30 seconds before fully pressing it through.
Strong, reddish colour that shifts towards brown as it cools down. The opposite of what I observed with others. The taste profile is "weird". The best way I can describe it is... coffee? A bit of bitterness, a bit of sweetness that comes in at the end, but this is not something that actually wows me.
It is pleasant, not offending, not wowing... I'd say middle of the road. Something I don't mind, but also not something I would necessarily seek out. Middle of the road.

Brewing Method French Press
Surprisingly red, compared to the AeroPress. Similarly "coffee only" smell after pouring. First sip pushes the acid to the front, with a tiny amount of sweetness coming in at the tail end.
This is more full bodied and "chewy" almost. I do prefer this over the AeroPress brew.
