Coffee Chronicles 012
"Official" tasting notes and background information.
The Beans
I am not really getting any distinct smell off of the beans. The beans themselves are small, hinting at being grown at a higher elevation.
Brewing Method AeroPress
I am following James Hoffman's "The Ultimate AeroPress Technique". 11 grams of coffee and 200 grams of water. Steep 2 minutes, then swirl and let settle for 30 seconds before fully pressing it through.
Much like with the beans I do not really get any distinct aroma off of the coffee. A minor sour note is all I can discern.
The first sip is... interesting. It takes a moment but I do get a nutty notes off of it. Almost tempted to say hazelnut with some sweetness and a little bit of bitterness to round it out.
Looking at the notes clearly my taste buds are off today. Though yes, the light hazelnut tones would also fit with the milkiness they describe. I just totally strike out on the berry notes they describe.

Chemex with paper filter
Oh, that is not a good cup. I can actually taste the filter paper. Something I have never had happen before.
Yeah, that preparation I call undrinkable. Bleh.
