Coffee Chronicles 015
"Official" tasting notes and background information.
The Beans
I am getting a "clean" smell off of the beans, with a hint of sweetness. They are small, so I am once again guessing higher elevation.
Brewing Method AeroPress
I am following James Hoffman's "The Ultimate AeroPress Technique". 11 grams of coffee and 200 grams of water. Steep 2 minutes, then swirl and let settle for 30 seconds before fully pressing it through.
Oh my, this is a very orange looking coffee and once again, clean with a hint of sweetness. I wish I could describe this in more detail.
The first sip gives me a lot of citrus, almost no hint of bitterness, with a sour tail. It's surprisingly refreshing.
It clouds a bit as it cools.
Looking at the tasting notes they do mention black tea, and yes, sourness at the end does remind me of a very light black tea. It's surprisingly good and fits perfectly in after my run this morning.

Brewing Method AeroPress with Stainless Steel Mesh
I am following James Hoffman's "The Ultimate AeroPress Technique". 11 grams of coffee and 200 grams of water. Steep 2 minutes, then swirl and let settle for 30 seconds before fully pressing it through.
Interesting. I am getting a much stronger nose off of it. Def. something reminiscent of black tea.
I am definitely getting more of the black tea out of it. Interestingly enough the citrus note is less dominant here.
Overall I would say it's less refreshing but much more tea / coffee like.
Both versions I quite enjoy.
